How minimalism helped my mental state of mind.

Every time that I would walk into my home I would be faced with the desire to walk out. My home was chaos. Clean, but messy most times. Toys in the living room, toys in the laundry room, things strung out all over the home. And all just because we had them. All because it was *something* that was there that my kids were able to get out. Not because they were playing with it, at least not most of the time, but because it was just there…

My home had become something that stressed me out, something that I didn’t feel at peace with, something that I mostly wanted to escape…

When things got overwhelming in my life and in my mind, my home suffered! And then my mental state and life suffered more…

And that’s when the depression hit harder. I would go shopping, go to dinners, do anything that took my exploding mind off of the overwhelming feeling that my home left me in.

This changed the day that I took most of the unnecessary things OUT OF MY HOME. I am still working towards my goal, which I’m not really sure what that is quite yet, but I feel like I’ll know when I get there.

Since I’ve decluttered my home, I feel more at peace, calmer (most days), more organized, I have more time to enjoy my home and family, and I literally feel like a weight was removed from my chest. The anxiety attacks are few and far between, and I no longer feel the depressed feelings that I was getting due to feeling overwhelmed. My ADHD symptoms are much better, although I still have a way to go.

My home is clearer.

My mind is clearer.

And my life is overall better…

This is no exaggeration, it is really how I feel…

I want this for you, I really do! And I believe it all starts at home, and then everything else just falls into place.

Minimalism isn’t about how much you own in your home, it’s about choosing what you have in your home and in your life so intentionally, that all you have left is what makes you MOST happy!

Less really is more, promise! <3

  • Excellent blog! Do you have any hints for aspiring writers? I’m hoping to start my own website soon but I’m a little lost on everything. Would you propose starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option? There are so many choices out there that I’m completely overwhelmed .. Any tips? Bless you!

    • Thank you! I think it depends on how serious you are about your blog. If it is for fun, maybe start with the free version and go from there. If you want to start a business, or monetize your blog, etc… I say go for the paid option! It can be all so overwhelming, but just start writing. That’s the best way to get started, keep it fun! 🙂

  • Hi, I do think this is an excellent blog. I stumbledupon it 😉 I’m going to revisit yet again since
